Rafael Nadal congratulated India’s Rohan Bopanna on winning the men’s doubles title at the Australian Open in 2024 via social media.

Rafael Nadal, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, congratulated Indian maestro Rohan Bopanna on social media following his victory in the Australian Open Men’s Doubles, which he shared with partner Matthew Ebden. Unquestionably, Bopanna’s best week to date saw him win his first Grand Slam title in men’s doubles and become the oldest player to ever hold the top spot. “Congrats Rohan on an amazing and unique achievement!!!!” Nadal wrote in a story on Instagram, expressing his gratitude to the 43-year-old.

Bopanna became the oldest player to win a Grand Slam title when he won the men’s doubles championship at the Australian Open.
To cap off an incredible week, Bopanna and Matthew Ebden dominated the one-hour, forty-minute match on Saturday by winning 80% (40/50) of games with their first delivery and avoiding a break point.
In an exciting match, the pair defeated Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori of Italy in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5.
In this event, Bopanna, who was playing in his 17th Australian Open, won the men’s doubles title with ease, marking his first Grand Slam triumph. He also became the oldest Grand Slam champion at 43 years, 329 days.

Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi are the other two Indian men to have won major men’s doubles titles during the Open Era, with the tennis player being the third. He’ll take the top spot in the ATP Doubles Rankings on Monday, making him the oldest player overall.

Bopanna won his first Grand Slam match in the men’s doubles category with this one. In the mixed doubles division at the 2017 French Open, he shared a Grand Slam triumph with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski.
