Regarding the 97 Test match between India and the West Indies that took place in Barbados, reporter Rahul Dravid did not find the issue particularly interesting.

Rahul Dravid, India’s head coach, was reminded of some painful memories when attending a news conference ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Afghanistan. Dravid, who went on the coaching role after a spectacular career with the Indian team, does not have the finest record in Barbados as a player. As a reporter reminded him of his bad performance at the location, the India head coach became clearly irritated and lost his cool.

Dravid provided the reporter with an in-depth understanding of his psyche, stating that he is someone who moves swiftly and is solely concerned with doing well as a coach, not with his previous performances as an player.

Reporter: “Rahul, you’ve played here before. “Not the best memories of the 1997 test?”

Dravid: “Wow, thank you very much, friend! I have had several more pleasant recollections here as well.

Reporter: “That’s my question. A chance for you to make fresh and better memories tomorrow?”

Dravid says, “God, guy! I’m not making anything new, man!

When India played the West Indies in 1997, Dravid visited Barbados. The Indian team lost the Test match in Bridgetown by 38 runs despite a 78 and 2 score from Dravid. The renowned cricketer, who is currently coaching the Indian squad, is solely focused on the current assignment and is not considering events that occurred over 25 years ago.

“I get over things quite quickly. It’s one of my interests. I don’t reflect on the past. I make an effort to pay attention to what I am doing right now. What occurred in 1997 or any other year doesn’t worry me.

“As you can see, by winning this… If you had told me that we would have scored 121 instead of 80 odd points if we had won this, I would have been concerned. However hard I try and will it, even if we win this match tomorrow, there will still only be 80 points on the scoresheet. No, I’m not thinking about getting even. I let go of things. Good or terrible, that’s what’s in front of me?

“As a player, I no longer give myself much thought. Sure, just go on. “At the press conference, he stated, ‘Leave tomorrow’s worries behind and strive for success.”
