The greatest run chase in the Indian Premier League was accomplished by Rajasthan Royals, who defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets.

The highest run chase of the Indian Premier League took place on Tuesday when Jos Buttler, leading Rajasthan Royals to victory over Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets, swung his bat joyously en route to a sixty-ball hundred seventy-score. In front of a raucous Eden Gardens, Sunil Narine, asked to bat first, led hosts KKR to a commanding 223/6 with 109 off 56 balls. However, Buttler had other ideas as he forced the Royals, who were down and out at 121/6 in the thirteenth over, to pass the game’s final ball target of 224. The visitors had needed to score 28 in 12 balls and 46 runs in the final three overs. In this top-of-the-table match, Narine led KKR’s attack by hitting a brilliant 49 balls in his opening innings on a new pitch.

Narine finally lost to Trent Bolt, but not before the opener hit 13 fours and 6 sixes, showing incredible confidence and talent against one of the best IPL assaults.

KKR’s Narine batted until the 18th over, scoring 51 runs with Andre Russell (13), after scoring 85 runs with Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30). It was a one-man show for the team.

Buttler, though, was the last to laugh as Narine’s first T20 hundred was a bust.

Having missed the previous game because of a niggle, the England white-ball captain led the chase with tremendous accuracy, hitting nine fours and six sixes in total.

Although Buttler displayed little nerve, the other end continued to see wickets tumble, reducing RR to 186/8 in the 18th over.

Buttler faced all of Harshit Rana’s deliveries and smashed him for 19 runs, demonstrating his calculative nature as he needed to score 28 from the final two overs.

When Varun Chakravarthy was struck for a six on the opening ball of the last over, the prolific Englishman quickly reached his century.

In the final ball, he completed the task while refusing to take a single to protect the tailenders.

The IPL run chase record was tied for this one. In 2020, at Sharjah, the Royals defeated Punjab Kings by surpassing a target of 224 runs previously.

After the victory, the Royals maintained their lead in the standings at the halfway mark of the competition, four points ahead of KKR.

The priciest purchase of the IPL Mitchell Starc showed that he was once again rusty with the ball as he gave up 0/50 and gave up 18 runs in his 18th over.

Earlier, Narine not only easily penetrated the field but also attacked R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal nonstop.

The Trinidadian required just 20 deliveries to achieve his first century after reaching fifty in 29 balls and pushing Chahal to the midwicket boundary.

From the stands, team owner Shah Rukh Khan, dressed in a clean white T-shirt, sent a kiss in the air.

While Narine quieted the celebration with a wave of his bat, his West Indies teammate Russell sprang with delight and gave him a bear embrace on the field.

Subsequently, Narine’s innings was terminated by a Boult special; the left-arm bowler from New Zealand struck a flawless yorker and snapped the leg stump, resulting in a delayed reaction.

The Royals spinners performed poorly on the day, with Narine taking center stage. Ashwin returned with figures of 1/54 from his whole quota, having surrendered 49 runs in four overs and four wides.

Later, with two sixes and one four in his nine-ball twenty not out, Rinku Singh helped KKR reach 200 runs, scoring 62 runs in the final five overs.

The two best bowlers for the Royals were Avesh Khan (25/35) and Boult (1/31). Moreover, Kuldeep Sen (2/46) selected two.

In the match’s second ball, Riyan Parag let go a clear cut from prolific English starter Phil Salt.

Salt, who hit a game-winning, undefeated 89 against the Lucknow Super Giants, was dismissed for ten by Avesh Khan’s one-handed return catch, so the Royals did not suffer too much from the drop.

However, careless fielding from the start appeared to have an effect as Narine and the youthful Raghuvanshi took control of the power play.

In the fifth over, Raghuvanshi hit three boundaries against Boult, showcasing his amazing timing.

In the power play, KKR amassed 56 for 1, with Narine taking the lead against Sen with a monster six over deep midwicket and a boundary in a 16-run over.

After quickly going into overdrive and hitting Chahal over long off in the next over, Narine produced an even bigger hit in the same area to reach his half-century in 29 balls.

Before Raghuvanshi lost his wicket due to an incorrect timing of an upper cut, the pair had helped KKR reach 100/1 at the midway point. To support KKR, however, Narine kept up the assault.
