Rajat Patidar has scored 320 runs at an astounding strike rate of 179.8, including five fifties in his previous seven matches.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday in a virtual elimination match for the IPL 2024 playoffs. RCB, one of four teams yet to win the IPL, appeared to be on the verge of collapse after losing seven of their first eight league matches. However, with five wins in a row, RCB might potentially make the playoffs if they beat CSK in Bengaluru on Saturday, depending on their net run rate.
Middle-order batsman Rajat Patidar, who has been a catalyst in RCB’s ‘rise from the ashes’ adventure, has attributed the franchise’s spectacular tournament recovery to the team’s fresh philosophy of ‘playing for pride.’
“Having support from the franchise and team management allows players to perform at their best on the field. Even when things didn’t go our way, the team climate was positive. I believe that plays an important role in developing the team’s character.
I believe that, of course, it is a large franchise, and that playing for pride was a turning point. We did it previously in 2016. So I believe we have an example in our own team pricing,” Patidar remarked at a media event on Tuesday.
Patidar is RCB’s third-highest run-scorer, trailing only legend Virat Kohli (661) and captain Faf du Plessis (367). He has scored 320 runs at an amazing strike rate of 179.8, including five fifties in his previous seven matches.
Patidar shared his thoughts on Kohli, saying, “He (Kohli) always keeps the team first, which is a good thing to learn for every player,” as stated by India Today.
RCB IPL 2024 Playoffs Scenario
RCB needs to defeat Chennai Super Kings in order to get 14 points and advance. Then, they would be hoping that their NRR is higher than the other teams competing for the fourth playoff position. Additionally, they would hope that either LSG loses their final game by a narrow margin or SRH loses both of their remaining games.
