The women’s 10m air rifle final at the Olympic Games in Chateauroux on Monday saw Indian shooter Ramita Jindal finish eighth. In a top-notch eight-woman final, Ramita, 20, shot 145.3. After ten shots (104.0), the young Indian shooter was ranked seventh, and the elimination round started. A 10.5 vaulted Ramita to sixth place just as Norway’s Hegg Jeanette Duestad was about to be eliminated. But after that, the Indian was unable to save herself.
She did incredibly well in the qualifying on Sunday, placing sixth in the final.
To qualify for the Paris Games, Ramita, the bronze medallist from the Hangzhou Asian Games, defeated Tilottama Sen and Mehuli Ghosh, the winner of the World Championship, in the national trials.
