Rampal had reacted angrily to Janneke Schopman, the head coach of the national team, on Thursday, demanding to know why she was being overlooked despite recent, respectable performances.

The 34-member senior women’s hockey probables were without veteran forward Rani Rampal on Saturday as they prepared for the national coaching camp leading up to the Hangzhou Asian Games in September-October.

Rampal had gotten angry with Janneke Schopman, the head coach of the national team, on Thursday and demanded an explanation for why she was being overlooked after recent respectable achievements.

Prior to the camp, Schopman stated to HI in a release, “We have showcased in our recent competitions that we are growing as a team and are constantly learning.” The forthcoming camp is crucial for us since we are leading the way in preparing for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, which could pave the way for us to qualify for the Paris Olympics in 2024. “We will work on the areas where we still need to improve in the camp and focus on making sure all the players are at ease playing the kind of hockey we want to play,” said the coach. Before the crucial competition that lies ahead for us, it is crucial that everyone is on the same page, she had stated.

The camp, which will start here on Sunday, will end on September 18.

Savita, Rajani Etimarpu, Bichu Devi Kharibam, and Bansari Solanki are the goalkeepers who are most likely to play.

Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Akshata Abaso Dhekale, Jyoti Chhatri, and Mahima Chaudhary are on the list of the defenders.

In the front position, Lalremsiami is joined by Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sharmila Devi, Deepika, Sangita Kumari, Mumtaz Khan, Sunelita Toppo, and Beauty Dungdung.

It is noteworthy that the Indians are coming off a successful showing at the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation – International Tournament, which was held last month in Barcelona. Spain suffered a 3-0 loss to the Women in Blue.
