The Big Bash League will begin on December 7 and Rashid Khan, an Afghanistan star, will miss it because of a back issue that will need surgery. Rashid’s team, the Adelaide Strikers, declared on Thursday that he will have a minor surgery. Harry Brook of England will also not be allowed to play for the team. Since 2017, Rashid has been a member of the Strikers. Tim Nielsen, General Manager of Cricket at Adelaide Strikers, said, “Rashid is a beloved member of the Strikers and a fan favorite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be extremely missed this summer.”

“We know how much Rashid loves playing in the BBL and how much he loves Adelaide and the Strikers. We are supporting him while he receives treatment for this injury to ensure his long-term participation in the game.

“Our list management and coaching staff will now look at our options for replacing Rashid for the upcoming season and a replacement player will be announced in due course.” Rashid had already vowed to miss Big Bash in protest of Australia calling off an ODI series against Afghanistan. Rashid was a part of Afghanistan’s passionate campaign in the ODI World Cup in India.
