After falling to Gulomjon Abdullaev of Uzbekistan in the 57kg qualification round on Friday, Indian wrestler and Olympic silver medalist Ravi Dahiya was eliminated from medal contention at the World Wrestling Championships.
Sagar Jaglan, who won the bronze medal in the men’s 74 kg competition for the World under-20s, is still in contention for the bronze there.
Dahiya was eliminated early, but Naveen advanced to the bronze medal match by defeating Uzbekistan’s Syrbaz Talgat, the fourth-ranked wrestler in the world, 11-3 in the initial round of the 70kg repechage. Ernazar Akmatalieve of Kyrgyzstan, who won the silver medal at the 2021 World Championship, defeated Naveen 1-4, putting a stop to his season.
