The reigning champion Mumbai Indians were beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore, thanks to an excellent all-around performer Ellyse Perry.
Riding on a superb all-around performance from Australian Ellyse Perry, she defeated the defending champion Mumbai Indians by five runs in the eliminator here on Friday to set up a Women’s Premier League title match against Delhi Capitals Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Due to some sharp bowling from Perry (1/29) and Shreyanka Patil (2/16), Mumbai, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, struggled to chase down a meager 135/6 and could only muster 130 runs at a six-wicket loss.
The cornerstone of RCB’s total came from Perry, who smashed 66 runs off 50 balls. Their top-order was destroyed by a disciplined MI attack, which reduced them to 24 for 3 in the four Powerplay overs.In response, Mumbai failed to gain momentum, which was lost totally when Harmanpreet was removed for 33 in the 18th over.
