Manoj Tiwary, a former cricketer for India, told an interesting story about his fight with Gautam Gambhir and disclosed his one and only regret from his career.
Manoj Tiwary, a former cricket player for Kolkata Knight Riders and India, has dug deep into the past and shared some fascinating anecdotes from his career as an international player. Though Tiwary hung up his cricket boots a few days ago, he still has regrets and issues to talk about from his time with the Indian squad. In an interesting anecdote, Tiwary disclosed that his lone regret is the verbal altercation he had with former India batsman Gautam Gambhir during a Ranji Trophy match.
I am not the kind of person who goes out and gets into arguments with seniors, so the fight I had with Gambhir that day is the only thing I regret. That’s a memory that I could have averted. Tiwary said to Sports Now, “I get along well with my seniors, but one incident ruined my reputation.”
During their time as members of the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, Gambhir and Tiwary had the opportunity to interact. After parting ways, the Bengal player disclosed that he had been rather close to the Delhi boy at one point.
We used to be quite close, which is why I mentioned that it is my biggest regret. We used to talk a lot and strategize over who to pick in Kolkata when we were players for Kolkata Knight Riders. We used to discuss in-depth information and inputs because of our relationship. But things did not turn out as well as they ought to have,” he lamented.
Gambhir had once requested Tiwary to meet outdoors to work out a disagreement, but the meeting never took place.
We were so close at one point, which is why I mentioned that it is my biggest regret. We used to debate and strategize a lot when we were playing for KKR over who to choose in Kolkata. We used to discuss specifics and inputs in our connection. However, things did not work out as they ought to have,” he lamented.
Also disclosed by Tiwary was Gambhir’s request to meet outside in order to resolve a disagreement, which was never fulfilled.
“Tu bahar mil match ke baad, ((Meet me after the match) and aaj tu gaya (you are finished today)?” ?Yes, that was incredibly immature of him to say that (laughs). Every word that is spoken in the underground journalist’s tent in Kotla is audible to all. However, given my physical characteristics and his physical characteristics, who knows who might have crossed paths outside of the ground? (laughs again).
“Like me, Gambhir is an avid cricket player. However, emotion can sometimes bring to light some things that ought not to happen in public. It came as a surprise, and a lot more things were mentioned. However, I made no mistakes,” Tiwary remarked.
The story ended there since the two cricket players never got together to resolve their issues outside.
