Pakistan cricket has been rocked by a financial dispute between the PCB and the Punjab government. The interim Punjab government has angered the Pakistan Cricket Board. As a result, the PSL 2023 may be completely relocated to Karachi. A decision will be made following a meeting with all franchise owners, which will be facilitated in the afternoon.

The financial disagreement is over how to divide the security costs of hosting the tournament, with the PCB reportedly being asked to pay PKR 450 million by the temporary Punjab government to host the tournament in Lahore and Rawalpindi. This figure includes the government’s expenses for holding the matches in Multan.

The PCB, on the other hand, agreed to pay only PKR 50 million to the former administration, which was deposed in the final week of January, and that payment has been honoured.

According to a PCB official, the Sindh government only demands payment for catering to security personnel and does not require the PCB to contribute to security expenditures. It is expected to cost around PKR 30 million.

The PCB has called an emergency PSL governing council meeting for Friday afternoon. During the meeting, various options for who should pay the additional expenses to the interim Punjab government, how to do so, and whether it is possible to move the final 20 matches from Punjab to Sindh while maintaining the current schedule will be discussed.
