CSK has been widely connected with a move for Rishabh Pant at the IPL 2025 auction.

Since the Delhi Capitals announced Rishabh Pant’s release, other teams have begun to show interest in the highly sought-after wicket-keeper batsman. Many were taken aback by Pant’s entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction pool, but some franchise supporters are feeling very hopeful as a result of the news. The Chennai Super Kings are among the teams that have been closely connected to a transfer for the Delhi boy. However, it appears like the club will have some difficulty pursuing Rishabh Pant, who is perhaps the most obvious heir to MS Dhoni.Prior to the auction, CSK made the decision to keep players like MS Dhoni, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, leaving them with only one Right To Match card to use in the bidding war. Devon Conway, the opening batsman, is most likely to be selected by CSK using the RTM option.

However, according to a Times of India article, it might be challenging for CSK to fully commit to Pant, who is expected to fetch a fee of about INR 25 crore at the auction, given that there is only INR 55 crore left in the purse to spend. In the IPL auction, Pant is still likely the most profitable player for teams to purchase. Insiders estimate that the wicket-keeper batsman will fetch between INR 25 crore and 30 crore when he is sold. The Super Kings still need to cover a lot of ground. Therefore, it may not be in the franchise’s best interest to pay such an outrageous amount for Pant from a balanced standpoint.

Because they have more money to spend, the Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, or Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a higher chance of acquiring the player if the bidding war reaches this point.Despite just keeping two uncapped players, PBKS has the largest purse balance of any team at Rs 110.5 crore. The next in line to spend the largest sum in the auction are RCB (Rs 83 crore) and LSG (Rs 69 crore). With INR 69 crore remaining, the Gujarat Titans may also be interested in signing Pant.

According to the report, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was released by the Rajasthan Royals prior to the auction, may soon make his CSK comeback. The spinner had previously mentioned his desire to play for his home team once more. This auction might make the fantasy come true.
