On April 2, Madrid will host the Laureus awards ceremony.
The daring batsman-keeper for the Indian cricket team, who made a comeback after surviving a horrific car accident in December 2022, has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Award 2025 in the comeback of the year category. The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 21 in Madrid. Pant was involved in a near-fatal car accident on December 30, 2022, while traveling from Delhi to his hometown of Roorkee.
Following his initial care at a Dehradun hospital, Pant was airlifted to Mumbai, where he was treated by a specialist consultant for the BCCI. Following the reconstruction of all three ligaments in his right knee, he underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. In Mullanpur last year, the 27-year-old made a spectacular comeback and played for his then-IPL team, the Delhi Capitals, against the Punjab Kings. He then triumphantly returned to Test cricket, scoring a century against Bangladesh in his first Test match since his car accident, which helped India win by 280 runs.
