Australian David Warner guided Delhi Capitals to a ninth-place finish in the ten-team league the previous season while Pant was absent.

In the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who suffered injuries in a potentially fatal vehicle accident in December 2022, will captain the Delhi Capitals.

According to Parth Jinal, a co-owner of the Capitals, “grit and fearlessness have always dictated his brand of cricket.”

We are excited for a new season with a renewed sense of vigor, passion, and energy, and I can’t wait to watch him lead our squad out once more.

The Australian David Warner guided the Delhi Capitals to ninth place in the ten-team league last season while Pant was out of the game.

As Pant was returning home in the early hours of the morning, the automobile rolled over, smashed into barricades, and caught fire, leaving him with serious injuries. After onlookers hurried him to a hospital, he was evacuated to Mumbai for more care and surgery.

Since then, he has missed both the home 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup and India’s 2023 ICC World Test Championships Final against Australia.

Two weeks after Meg Lanning guided the Delhi Capitals to their second consecutive runner-up finish in the Women’s Premier League, the 26-year-old Rorkee-lad was cleared by the National Cricket Academy’s physicians to play the entire tournament as a wicket-keeper.

Saturday in Chandigarh, the Capitals will take on Punjab Kings in the opening game of the 2024 Indian Premier League.
