For his final match of his career at the Laver Cup in London, Roger Federer stated on Wednesday that he wishes to partner with longtime foe Rafael Nadal.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed last week that he would be calling it quits after the competition at London’s 02 Arena, which begins on Friday.
Federer has been dealing with a knee issue since his last match, which was a defeat to Hubert Hurkacz in the Wimbledon quarterfinals of the previous year.
He won’t compete in a singles match in London, but he will play in the doubles on Friday night.
Although the Swiss stated it would be the ideal situation, he does not yet know if he would be able to partner with Nadal.
He responded to a packed press conference with, “Of course, no doubt.” If it did, I believe it would be a very unusual circumstance.
