Rohit Sharma will not play in the second Test against Bangladesh, which begins on December 22 in Dhaka.

During the second ODI in Dhaka, India’s captain dislocated his left thumb, forcing him to leave the field immediately.

He had to fly back home and was eventually ruled out of the third ODI and the first Test, both of which were held in Chattogram.

Rohit was expected to be available for selection after regaining fitness ahead of the second Test.

He has, however, reportedly been ruled out.

In his absence, vice-captain KL Rahul, who led the team during Rohit’s absence, will take over.
