Rugby India is set to launch the Rugby Premier League

The Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is preparing to start the franchise-based Rugby Premier League (RPL), with the stated goal of promoting the sport across the country.

The league will feature some of the top 7s rugby talent from across the world, including India. The league, which will be played in the 7s version of the sport, is set to begin in September of this year and will include six teams in its debut season.

The IRFU and Baseline Ventures India Pvt Ltd, a top sport marketing firm in India, have teamed up to organize and promote the league, it was also announced.
