South Africa defeated Bangladesh by four runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Monday.
Bangladesh limited South Africa to 113 for six, thanks to a Powerplay surge from Tanzim Hasan and Taskin Ahmed. While their strategy of batting first failed, South Africa remained in contention with some economical bowling and early wickets.
Even though Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah fought hard, South Africa held their nerve and dismissed both batsmen to secure their third consecutive victory. It is also the tournament’s lowest ever successfully defended total.
The victory puts South Africa squarely in the driving seat for a Super Eight spot.
