Fans will only be able to see the 35-year-old superstar in Tests and ODIs going forward as he has already retired from T20 Internationals.

Starting on September 19, when the Indian cricket team plays a Test series against Bangladesh, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli. Fans will only be able to see the 35-year-old superstar in Tests and ODIs as Kohli has already announced his retirement from Twenty20 Internationals. Though Virat Kohli has always insisted that Sachin Tendulkar is unmatched, comparisons between the two have been made frequently. With eighty international tons, Kohli trails Tendulkar (one hundred) in the total number of centuries.

Kohli can overtake Tendulkar for an international cricket world record in the Bangladesh Test series, however it would take some time to do it. In international cricket, Virat Kohli needs 58 runs to reach 27,000 runs. In 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, and 1 T20I innings), Tendulkar is the fastest player to amass 27,000 runs in international cricket. Kohli has scored 26942 runs in 591 innings of play across all formats thus far. In the 147-year history of international cricket, Kohli will be the first player to surpass 27,000 runs in fewer than 600 innings if he can score 58 more runs in his next eight innings, which seems very likely.Aside from Tendulkar, Australia’s Ricky Ponting and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara have scored over 27000 runs in international cricket.

Meanwhile, the Afro-Asian Cup could be restored. If the competition does go forward, Virat Kohli may partner Babar Azam in the middle, while Shaheen Afridi might bowl alongside Jasprit Bumrah.
According to Forbes, the potential of reviving the Afro-Asia Cup is being considered again.

“Personally, I am very hurt that it (Afro-Asia Cup) didn’t happen,” Damodar told me. “The ACA did not pass with enough impetus, but it is currently being reexamined. According to Forbes, “I believe it was primarily a lack of comprehension and not buying into the concept,” stated Sumod Damodar, the former chair of the African Cricket Association. “It is something our members regret. Africa was the one who had to push it.”
