Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has received praise from Sachin Tendulkar, who described him as “intuitive, instinctive” and a great decision-maker.
Sachin Tendulkar, a cricket icon, has praised former Indian captain MS Dhoni, describing him as “intuitive, instinctive” and making the right choices. He also recalled recommending a young MSD to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 for heading India. The squad has a new captain this season. Dhoni has guided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL championships. The Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament opened on Friday in Chennai, with CSK playing as the team of Ruturaj Gaikwad versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It was a six-wicket victory for the home team. All eyes were on MS even if Gaikwad was captain because he was frequently spotted assisting his new captain in determining field positions.
In an interview with JioCinema, Sachin disclosed that he was offered the captaincy but declined because of his poor form following the 2007 50-over World Cup catastrophe. Rather, Sachin suggested Dhoni’s name to Sharad Pawar, the BCCI president at the time.”In 2007, Mr. Sharad Pawar, the president of the BCCI, urged me to be the leader of India. I remarked, “My body is in terrible shape. It is not right for our team that a captain would go to the dressing room and have his ankle strapped or have some treatment done on his shoulder and all that.”
I’ve had numerous chats with MS Dhoni and have been fielding in slips, so my observation of him has been excellent. ‘What would you have done right now?’ was a question I would always ask him. Additionally, the responses were impartial. Tendulkar remarked, “He is incredibly intuitive, instinctive, and has amazing knowledge of that particular moment.
“He makes sound decisions because of his calm demeanor, instincts, and extremely stable intellect. Sachin continued, “At that time, I suggested that the BCCI President give him some thought, stating that I saw leadership potential in him.”
Dhoni leaves behind a remarkable legacy. He is the only skipper to have won every ICC trophy, having won the ICC Champions Trophy, ICC T20 World Cup, and ICC Cricket World Cup. In addition, he has won two Champions League T20 titles for CSK, five IPL titles, and the Asia Cup for India in 2010 and 2016.
On March 26, CSK will play the Gujarat Titans, the runners-up from the previous season, in Chennai.
