Sanjana Ganesan, the wife of Jasprit Bumrah, was the victim of internet harassment. But her response was appropriate.

Jasprit Bumrah will return to action when the third Test against England begins on Thursday in Rajkot. With three more Tests remaining, the series is tied at 1-1. Ben Stokes-led England won the first Test, while Rohit Sharma’s team won the second. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah took nine wickets and helped India tie the series. Jasprit Bumrah, like other Indian cricket players, spent time with his family following the match.

He even uploaded a photo of himself and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, with the message, “Happiness is here.” Sanjana is a prominent sportscaster. The couple recently became parents for the first time.

On Monday, however, an Instagram user body-shamed Sanjana Ganesan in a promotional image with a Valentine’s Day theme. “Bhabhi moti lag rahi hai (You are looking fat),” the user said.

“School ki science textbook toh yaad hoti nahi hai, bada auraton ke body ke baare mein comment kar raho ho. Bhaago yaha se (You can’t even remember your school science textbooks, let alone comment on women’s bodies). Sanjana Ganesan responded sternly, “Run away. The response was praised by all.

Dale Steyn, the South African pace great, recently praised Jasprit Bumrah. “I don’t think there’s any Test bowlers right now who are able to run in and bowl essentially wicket-taking yorkers,” Steyn remarked in an interview.

“There are probably only a few guys capable of taking wickets in Test matches. Trent Boult was one of them, perhaps Mitchell Starc. And obviously, Bumrah.”

Steyn emphasized Bumrah’s unorthodox but efficient bowling technique when discussing his versatility across circumstances.

“I recall saying years ago that a good yorker bowled in India, South Africa, or Australia remains a good yorker because you remove the surface, regardless of where you bowled it.

“I believe that’s one thing that he’s done incredibly well—you take away the pitch.

“He’s an excellent bowler all around. And given his clumsy behavior, it’s not surprising that he possesses that. He’s amazing; he takes wickets on those gentle pitches,” Steyn continued.

“As an Indian player, you will have a heavy burden. India is a highly sought-after cricket squad in the world and plays a lot of the game.

“It seems like India don’t really miss him because the step-in bowlers are up to the standard, and it’s a great credit to the Indian cricket.”
