Patil, a former Mumbai cricket player who participated in 33 First-Class matches between 1989–1990 and 1993–1994 claimed he would lead the senior men’s and U–23 selection committee in an announcement made by the MCA for the 2024–25 season.
On Friday, Sanjay Patil was elected chairman of selectors, replacing Raju Kulkarni, who will now lead the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC). Omkar Salvi was kept as head coach of the Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai squad.
In a statement for the 2024–25 season, the MCA stated that Patil, a former cricket player for Mumbai who participated in 33 First-Class matches between 1989–1990 and 1993–1994; other members of the committee include Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackrey, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligati. Patil will lead the senior men’s and U–23 selection committee.
Rajesh Pawar, a former player for both Mumbai and Baroda as well as the Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will lead the Mumbai men’s U-23 squad.
The men’s U-19 squad now has Dinesh Lad as head coach, and Deepak Jadhav as chairman of selectors, with Mandar Phadke, Umesh Gotkhindkar, Bhavin Thakkar, and Piyush Soneji as the other members.
Ajay Kadam was appointed head coach of the women’s U-23 team, while Sunetra Paranjape led Mumbai’s senior women’s team.
Seema Pujare, Shraddha Chavan, Sheetal Sakru, and Kalpana Cardoso are the other members of the women’s senior and U-23 teams, where Laya Francis was named as their chairwoman.
The head coach of the women’s U-19 team will be Sarvesh Damle, while Sunita Singh will serve as the chairperson of selectors. Other members of the selection committee are Aparna Chavan, Sangeeta Kamat, Veena Paralkar, and Kalpana Murkar.
