Mayank Agarwal is back in form and ready to lead the Rest of India squad in the Irani Cup. While the BCCI has not yet announced the ROI squad, according to reports, Sarfaraz Khan has been dropped after being left out of the IND vs AUS Test squad. Interestingly, India U19 World Cup captain Yash Dhull remains in senior plans. However, Priyanl Pranchal is no longer fit. Instead, the selection committee chose Abhimanyu Easwaran and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Under fire for his form, KL Rahul who was tipped to join Rest of India squad, will remain with India Squad for Australia series. However, he will almost certainly be benched in favour of Shubman Gill.
Sarfaraz Khan is currently in the pre-IPL camp with the Delhi Capitals. With Rishabh Pant out injured, he will play a significant role in DC’s plans. In DC’s camp at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, he has been keeping wickets. However, he is currently recovering from a finger injury, and the selectors did not want to take any chances.
Sarfaraz Khan has nearly 3,000 runs in Ranji Trophy in 26 games over the last three seasons, smashing 12 centuries and 7 half-centuries. He has a mind-boggling average of 106.70. Selectors, however, have continued to overlook him.
