Although Sarfaraz Khan was selected for India’s opening Test match against Bangladesh, he has been requested to participate in the Duleep Trophy second round.
The majority of the players selected for India’s first Test against Bangladesh, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill, were withdrawn after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the Duleep Trophy selections for the second round. Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel have all been excluded from the second round, but the situation is a little different for Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dayal, who were also picked for the Test series opener.
Sarfaraz Khan and left-arm bowler Yash Dayal, who are both included in India’s 16-man squad for the first Test, have not been released from their Duleep Trophy responsibilities, which suggests they will not be included in the playing eleven when India plays Bangladesh in Chennai.
“India B’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have been named in India’s squad and the selectors have named Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as replacements, respectively,” the BCCI stated in a statement ahead of the second round of Duleep Trophy matches. The second-round match will feature fast bowler Yash Dayal, who has been called up for the first time to the Indian team, and Sarfaraz Khan.”Given that Sarfaraz was chosen for the Duleep Trophy match, KL Rahul is probably going to be included in the Indian XI. It was believed that the two would directly compete for a middle-order position.
The India C team, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, is unchanged.
In the Duleep Trophy opening, Pant—who hasn’t played red-ball cricket since December 2022—as well as K L Rahaul and Akash Deep both performed admirably.
