In the most recent rankings released by the Badminton World Federation on Tuesday, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty fell two spots to third place.

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, the premier Indian doubles team, dropped two spots to third in the most recent Badminton World Federation rankings on Tuesday after having to withdraw from their championship defense at the Indonesia Open last week. After jumping two spots, Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are now the men’s doubles No. 1s, followed by China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. After taking the No. 1 spot back in May after winning the Thailand Open, the Chirag-Satwik duo lost form and lost in the first round of the Singapore Open the following month.

The Australian Open is currently underway, and the Indians have also withdrawn.

Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy both held their 10th and 14th places in the men’s singles rankings, staying inside the top-15.

Priyanshu Rajawat (No. 34) and Kiran George (No. 35, up one spot) were the next best Indians, with Kidambi Srikanth falling four spots to No. 32.

Staying put at No. 10 in the women’s singles rankings was two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindu.

Olympic hopefuls Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa advanced one spot to 19th in the women’s doubles.

A step up to 24th place went to Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand.

The bronze medallists from the Commonwealth Games had exited the Indonesia Open in the final sixteen.
