The latest Asian Games will begin on September 23 in Hangzhou, China, and will last through October 8. The 19th Asian Games will feature an Indian team of 655 athletes competing in 41 of 61 events. The games will be held in 56 different locations, with 481 gold medals on the line. Though the games officially begin on September 23, events such as cricket, football, volleyball, and beach volleyball will begin on September 19.
While the catchphrase for the Indian presence at the Asian Games 2023 has been ‘Aab ki Baar, Sau Paar’ (which translates to crossing 100 medals this time), supporters and the sporting establishment would like to curb their expectations, but with an eye to the future.
