Natalie Sciver of England has withdrawn from the next limited-overs matchup with India, citing the need to prioritize her mental health and well-being. Sciver’s replacement as captain for the T20I series is Amy Jones.
Sciver was cited as stating in a statement released by the ECB: “Over the past nine months, I have played a lot of cricket, and as a result, I am emotionally worn out. I need to take a break from cricket in order to focus on myself because elite sport requires a lot, and right now I can’t play without endangering my personal welfare. I made the correct choice, and the team made the right choice, too.”
As of yet, no substitute player has been announced, and the ECB has backed Sciver in his choice.
