Shivam Mavi, the fast bowler for Indian Premier League club Kolkata Knight Riders from 2018 to 2022, disclosed a lovely gesture from team owner and well-known actor Shah Rukh Khan. Mavi revealed in a podcast with Manjot Kalra that SRK called him personally just before his national team debut in 2023. He made his debut for India in the Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Mavi stated that SRK had earlier provided him his personal contact information, and that prior to his debut, the actor called to wish him luck.
Mavi also remembered how, following a defeat to the Chennai Super Kings, SRK inspired the entire KKR squad.
“He is a legendary figure. KKR and CSK played a losing match. Shubman Gill and I were not included in the game’s starting lineup. We were seated in the changing area. When Shah Rukh Khan entered the changing room, he instructed us to smile.
“Winning or losing is fine; the players’ happiness is the most important thing,” he continued. It gives the players a lot more confidence when an owner acts in this way.
