Jay Shah of India has been replaced as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) by Shammi Silva of Sri Lanka.

In the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Shammi Silva of Sri Lanka has replaced Jay Shah of India, who was recently appointed chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). After serving three terms as President of the ACC, Shah had resigned. Silva will be joining the ACC for the first time; he was formerly the chairman of the Finance & Marketing Committee. The position of head of the Asian Cricket Council is an enormous honor. “As cricket is the lifeblood of Asia, I am eager to collaborate closely with all member countries to improve the game, give up-and-coming players a chance, and deepen the ties that bind us together through this lovely sport,” Silva said in a statement.

Silva also conveyed the ACC’s sincere appreciation to Shah for his outstanding leadership and noteworthy accomplishments throughout his time there.

“Under Mr Shah’s stewardship, the ACC achieved remarkable milestones, including the successfully achieving highest value for its commercial rights of ACC Asia Cup tournaments for 2024-31, the introduction of a new pathway events structure, and the continued development and growth of cricket across its member nations,” the ACC stated. As the ACC prepares for the forthcoming Asia Cup and works to solidify Asia’s standing as a major force in world cricket, Silva’s tenure starts at a critical juncture.
