Shahid Afridi is a former Pakistani cricketer who was born on March 1, 1980, in Khyber, Pakistan. He was an all-rounder who played as a right-handed batsman and a leg-spinner. Afridi was known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to take wickets with his spin bowling.
Afridi made his debut for the Pakistan cricket team in 1996 in an ODI against Kenya, and he made his Test debut in 1998 against Australia. He quickly established himself as one of the most exciting cricketers in the world, known for his explosive batting and his economical bowling.
Afridi played in five ICC Cricket World Cups for Pakistan, including the 2009 ICC World Twenty20, where he helped Pakistan win the tournament with his all-round performances. He was also known for his performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he played for the Deccan Chargers, the Karachi Kings, and the Peshawar Zalmi.
Afridi retired from international cricket in 2018, having played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is for Pakistan. He scored over 11,000 runs in international cricket and took more than 540 wickets. He also holds the record for the most sixes in ODI cricket, with 351 sixes.
Outside of cricket, Afridi is known for his philanthropic work through his Shahid Afridi Foundation, which provides healthcare and education to underprivileged children in Pakistan. He is married to Nadia Afridi, and the couple has four daughters.
