BCCI provides a concerning medical update on a star batter
Shubman Gill, India’s star batter, will reportedly miss the team’s second Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan due to dengue sickness, the BCCI has announced. Gill was unable to compete for India in their World Cup opener against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium because he had a fever the previous several days. Ishan Kishan started the game against Australia in place of the opening batter, teaming up with Rohit Sharma, the captain of India.
Shubman Gill, a batter for Team India, won’t be going to Delhi with the team on October 9, 2023, the BCCI announced in a release. The team’s opening batter, who was absent from the team’s first match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai, is expected to be absent from the team’s upcoming match against Afghanistan on October 11 in Delhi. He will continue to reside in Chennai under the care of the medical staff.
Ishan will probably start Rohit in place of Gill versus Afghanistan. The left-handed batsman was unable to even bat for himself against Australia. He would be eager to turn things around with Afghanistan.
Shreyas Iyer is also probably going to bat in the middle order for India’s second World Cup game with Gill out. Additionally, he was ejected against Australia for a duck.
