Smriti Mandhana advances to the second position in the women’s ICC ODI rankings

After a brilliant series against Ireland, India opener Smriti Mandhana moved up to the second spot in the most recent ICC women’s ODI batting rankings, edging closer to the top spot.

Following a successful series against Ireland, India opener Smriti Mandhana moved closer to the top of the ICC women’s ODI batting rankings, rising to second place. Mandhana, the only Indian in the top ten, blasted 135 in the third ODI after scoring 41 and 73 in the first and second games. The 28-year-old presently has 738 points, with South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt (773 points) leading the way and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu (733) in third position.Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain who missed the series, sits in 15th place, while Jemimah Rodrigues, who hit her first century in the second ODI against Ireland, jumped two spots to 17th place.

With 344 points, Deepti Sharma is ranked sixth on the all-rounders’ list, which is led by Ashleigh Gardner of Australia, who overtook South Africa veteran Marizanne Kapp for the top spot after taking four wickets and scoring 146 runs in the Ashes.

With 680 rating points, Deepti also moved up one spot to fourth place in the bowling rankings, which are led by Sophie Ecclestone.The Australians won all three ODIs against England in Australia thanks to Gardner’s effectiveness with the bat and the ball.

She amassed a run-a-ball 102 in Hobart against England, earning her first ODI century.

In the opening One-Dayer at North Sydney Oval, she took 19-3 off 6.1 overs before scoring 42 not out off 44 balls to lead Australia home and help the hosts get off to a solid start in the Ashes. That performance came after she had already won Player of the Match.In the All-Rounder ODI Rankings, the Australian is now 25 points clear of the next-best Kapp and has reached a career-high 469 rating points.

After moving up five spots to enter the top 10 of the list, she has also achieved a new career-best of 648 rating points as a batter.
