On Monday (January 27), star Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana was named the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024. Last year, the 27-year-old left-handed batter was in top form. She played 13 ODIs for the Women in Blue and scored 747 runs, including four hundreds and three fifties.
In addition, Mandhana rolled her arm in three matches and took one wicket.
The victory on Monday enabled the 28-year-old Indian star tie New Zealand batter Suzie Bates’ record of winning the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award on several occasions. Mandhana received the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award in 2018.
Bates received the ICC ODI Cricketer Award in 2013 and 2016.
Mandhana defeated South African captain Laura Wolvaardt, Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, and Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland to win the title.
