The Proteas decided to bat and started their campaign in the main event with a roaring 315 for 6 in 50 overs before dismissing Hashmatullah Shahidi’s team for 208 runs.Captain Temba Bavuma (58 off 76 balls), Rassie van der Dussen (52 off 46 balls), and Aiden Markram (50 not out off 34 balls) all scored half-centuries while Rickleton led an aggressive batting display with 103 off 106 balls, seven fours, and one six. Rahmat Shah, a middle-order batsman, scored a brilliant 90 from 92 balls as Afghanistan was dismissed for 208 in 43.3 overs.
