At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets.
After Matheesha Pathirana’s hostile bowling, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka scored determined fifties as Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their Asia Cup opener on Thursday.
Pathirana’s 4 for 32 limited Bangladesh to 164. The home side subsequently overcame the target in 39 overs thanks to Samarawickrama’s 54 off 77 balls and Asalanka’s unbeaten 62 off 92 balls.
After fading from the scene, Samarawickrama is relaunching his career this year. He was called up to the Sri Lanka Test squad for the first time in five years against Ireland in July, and he also returned to the ODI squad after a four-year absence during the home series against Afghanistan in June.
