Former India left-arm spinner Sridharan Sriram is back as the Bangladesh Cricket Team’s new technical advisor.

Dhaka : On Thursday, ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, former India left-arm spinner Sridharan Sriram made a comeback as the new technical consultant of the Bangladesh Cricket Team. Sriram will join the Bangladesh squad in Guwahati on September 27 to begin training for the team’s two exhibition games prior to the commencement of the 2018 ODI World Cup, according to ESPNcricinfo. Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations, claims that the former India spinner would impart important expertise about Indian conditions to Khaled Mahmud, who recently joined as the team director.

Yunus stated that since the majority of the Bangladeshi players had not played in India, the new technical consultant will enlighten the players about the country’s climate and playing surface. Yunus thinks Sriram’s contribution to the team would be crucial.

“Technical consultant Sriram has joined. He will provide us with a tonne of technical support, added Yunus. He is familiar with every Indian wicket. He can also provide us with information about the weather. His advice would be crucial because so few of our players have experience playing in India, according to Yunus, who was reported by news sources

Sriram served as the team’s head coach for the T20 International matches and served as Bangladesh cricket’s technical consultant earlier in 2022. He served as Australia’s spin-bowling coach for six years before choosing the position in 2022.

He led Bangladesh to the T20 World Cup in Australia, where they won two games and were in the running for a berth in the semifinals up until their final group match.

Sriram just started working as the assistant coach for the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants, thus it’s likely that his stint with the Bangladeshi team would only last for the World Cup this time.

On October 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Bangladesh will square off against Afghanistan in the opening match of the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
