Although Bangladesh’s board confirmed on Monday that technical consultant Sridharan Sriram, a former all-rounder for India, will assist the team in the competition, Bangladesh will not have a recognised head coach for the Asia Cup.
Head coach Russell Domingo has been urged to concentrate on Test and ODI cricket, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan, with eight days till the team’s tournament opener against Afghanistan at Sharjah.
On the day of the team’s departure for the UAE, Hassan told media, “There won’t be a head coach (for the T20I side).”
“The T20 lineup will not include Russell Domingo. He will participate in Tests and ODIs.”
