In one hour and 44 minutes, Sumit Nagal was able to win the second set and claim the championship after holding off a valiant assault from Dalibor Svrinca.

After winning the Tampere Open 2023 final in Finland on Sunday, Sumit Nagal won the ATP Challenger men’s singles title, according to Olympics.com. It was the fourth ATP Challenger Tour victory for the Indian tennis star. Sumit Nagal, 25, defeated Czech player Dalibor Svrcina 6-4, 7-5 in the championship match to claim his second ATP Challenger victory of the year. After a four-year title drought, Sumit Nagal won the Garden Open in Rome in April. The Buenos Aires and Bengaluru Challengers in 2019 and 2017, respectively, were won by the Indian tennis player.

Sumit Nagal became the first Indian tennis player to win two ATP Challenger titles on European soil after winning in Rome in April and Tampere on Sunday.

Sumit Nagal, the top-ranked male singles player in India at No. 231 in the world, got off to a sluggish start in the match and fell behind No. 193 Svrcina 4-1 in the opening game. But the Indian came back to win the first set after making a comeback.

To win the second set and claim the championship in one hour and 44 minutes, the Indian had to hold off a strong push from Svrinca.

Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic, JL Reis da Silva of Brazil, and Mohamed Aziz Dougaz of Tunisia were defeated in the semifinals by Sumit Nagal. The Indian won a three-set match against Spain’s Daniel Rincon in the semi-finals with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Next, Sumit Nagal is scheduled to perform in Verona, Italy.
