During the ICC Champions Trophy, Sunil Gavaskar revealed Pakistan’s security flaws.
Due to Team India’s unwillingness to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the competition was changed to a hybrid format, with Rohit Sharma and company playing in Dubai. The primary reason given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for taking this approach was concerns about the safety of the team. There were doubts about the veracity of India’s assertions, even though other international teams had played all of their Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan. But Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar suppressed the commotion by pointing up “security lapse” instances that happened in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy. In the Group B match between Afghanistan and England for the Champions Trophy, a fan broke in to meet Afghan players. Rachin Ravindra, a batter from New Zealand, has already experienced this kind of thing during the game against Bangladesh.
“Even during this event, we claim that individuals were able to get past security and rush onto the field during play. It was probably during the Afghanistan game. Gavaskar stated on Sports Today that it is nearly hard for any administration to allow the Indian team to visit Pakistan when such occurrences occur.Gavaskar was asked earlier on a Pakistani chat show what he thought about the bilateral cricket match between India and Pakistan starting up again. He said that till there is peace at the Indo-Pak border, such a series is not possible.
It’s really easy. “Look, okay, we’ve had no incidents, nothing at all,” I believe both governments will say if there is peace at the borders. Therefore, let’s at least begin a conversation,” Gavaskar had stated.”I’m pretty certain there will be some back-channel connections going on. But you want to see what’s happening both on the ground and off the ground because there are incursions we hear about. That’s the reason why the Indian government is saying, ‘Look, maybe until all that stops, we should not even look at having or talking about anything’,” he previously stated.
