Suryakumar Yadav of India has displaced Babar Azam of Pakistan as the third-ranked T20I hitter in the most recent ICC Men’s Player Rankings, which were released on Wednesday.
In the first game of their three-game series against Australia on Tuesday in Mohali, Yadav dazzled with a polished 46 as India fell short by four wickets.
His performance allowed him to get closer to Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who started the game, at the top of the T20I batters’ list.
With Rizwan now only 45 rating points ahead of him, the right-hander ousted Babar from third place.
In Pakistan’s defeat to England on Tuesday in Karachi, Rizwan scored a half-century. With a career-high total of 825 rating points, he maintained a slim lead atop the standings.
Aiden Markram of South Africa (792 rating points) is in second place ahead of Yadav (780).
Following his subpar performance at the Asia Cup and a 31 versus England in the series opener, Babar fell to fourth in the most recent rankings.
The top 6 is completed by Australia’s captain Aaron Finch (715) and England’s Dawid Malan (725).
Along with Yadav, top Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya rose 22 ranks to rank 65th overall after scoring an outstanding 71 not out against Australia. Teammate Axar Patel rose 24 spaces to rank 33rd among bowlers after taking three wickets on Tuesday.
