In the most recent ICC T20 rankings, Australia’s opener Travis Head dethroned Suryakumar Yadav of India as the top batsman on Wednesday. Suryakumar had been ranked first since December 2023, but Head shot to prominence at the T20 World Cup despite his team’s elimination. Head finished with two half century and 255 runs, including 76 against India in a Super Eight match. The Australian has two more points than Suryakumar (842 points), who fell to second place.

Still, with India’s World Cup campaign still in the balance, he has an opportunity to take back the top spot.

The top five batters are completed by Phil Salt of England and Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan.

Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz has moved up five spaces to be a place lower, and the only other newcomer to the top 10 is West Indies’ Johnson Charles, who has risen four spots.

Jasprit Bumrah, the leading Indian pacer, leaped an incredible 44 places to take the 24th position, and Kuldeep Yadav, the spinner, surged 20 places to take 11th place, almost outside the top-10.

The top-ranked bowler in India is still spin all-rounder Axar Patel, who is now placed seventh.

Adil Rashid of England is still ranked #1 in the bowling rankings, but Rashid Khan has risen to the second rank following his heroics in the T20 World Cup. Josh Hazlewood has moved up three spots to fourth place, trailing Hasaranga.

After a brief reign as the best player, Marcus Stoinis has lost his position as the all-arounder. He is now down to fourth, behind Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi in second, India’s Hardik Pandya in third, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga returning to the top rank.

The biggest mover among all-rounders is West Indies’ Roston Chase, who moved up 17 spots to 12th.
