It is recognized that during the IPL, no guidance regarding workload management should be provided to Indian players.
The workload of India’s starting team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, which is tentatively scheduled from March 22 to May 26, will be crucial given that the ICC T20 World Cup in the Americas begins on June 1 and that India plays its opening match in New York on June 5.
To be fair to the clubs that are paying top bucks for their famous Indian players, it is recognized that no directives regarding workload management should be issued to Indian players during the IPL.
They cannot select which games to add to franchises, even receiving large compensation. But certainly, the franchise’s support staff would need to routinely give the NCA Sports Science head Nitin Patel a health update for all those centrally contracted and targeted players (next lot), a BCCI official informed PTI.
It is known that BCCI may send the players whose teams do not make it to the IPL playoffs earlier to New York, with the players who advance through the knockout rounds joining them thereafter.
From the 2007 tournament’s inception, India has not emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup. Ultimately victors England defeated India in the semifinals of the previous edition of the high-profile event.
