Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will be all fired up to give another whitewash to SA Women. India Women started the season with a 3-0 victory in the ODI series against the visitors. Smriti Mandhana topped the run chart with 343 runs at an average of 114.33. She scored two hundreds and a half-century in the series. Having recently defeated South Africa Women in the one-off Test, India Women are well-prepared to face the visitors in the shortest game format.
Laura Wolvadaart of SA Women finished the series with 200 runs at a 100 average. With six wickets at the lowest economy of 3.57 of any bowler in the series, Indian spinner Deepti Sharma was the most successful.
Both teams participated in a single test following the ODI series. The opening pair for India’s women, Mandana (149) and Shafali Verma (205), broke all previous records with a partnership of 292 in the first innings. India Women lost six wickets and ended the innings with 603 runs. With eight wickets, spinner Sneh Rana destroyed the South African batting order.
SA captain Wolvadaart and partner Sunne Luss (109), after trailing by 337 runs in the second innings, struck a century (122). India Women maintained their unbeaten record by chasing the goal of 36 without losing a wicket.
For SA women, the T20I series will offer a resurgence. Chloe Tryon’s 57 off 32 balls in the middle order helped SA Women win the match by 5 wickets when the two teams last played the format back in 2023. Even though India Women have won the Test and ODI series, they will face a difficult test in the T20I series.
