When the Proteas play Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, they will want to keep their perfect record in the competition. South Africa finished the Super Eight stage at the top of Group 2.
After defeating Bangladesh in the Super Eights championship match in St. Vincent, Afghanistan secured their spot in the last four. Afghanistan won the match by 8 runs (DLS method) after bowling out Bangladesh for 105 in a rain-affected game after they had scored 115/5 in the first innings.
On Thursday, unbeaten India and defending T20 World Cup champions England will square off in the second semi-final in Guyana.
India defeated Australia to secure their place in the semifinals on Monday. They will now face Jos Buttler’s team in a rematch of their crushing battle from the last T20 World Cup in Australia two years ago.
On that occasion, England won the Men’s T20 World Cup for the second time, defeating India at the Adelaide Oval by a margin of 10 wickets.
