As part of their 15-man roster, West Indies on Wednesday reinstated opener Evin Lewis for the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia but left out all-rounder Andre Russell and spinner Sunil Narine.
Lewis, who is left-handed, last competed for the team at the United Arab Emirates T20 World Cup in 2021. Veteran players Russell and Narine, meanwhile, have recently been passed over by selectors.
West Indies’ squad, which will be led by Nicholas Pooran with Rovman Powell as his deputy, includes uncapped all-rounders Yannic Cariah and Raymon Reifer.
Lead selector Desmond Haynes remarked, “We have chosen a balance of youth and experience to represent the West Indies.”
We considered the players that have been performing exceptionally well during the selection process while also keeping in mind the current Caribbean Premier League.
