In the final group D match of the 2024 T20 World Cup against Nepal, Bangladeshi seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib violated the ICC’s code of conduct and was fined fifteen percent of his match fee. During a heated moment at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown on Sunday, Tanzim got into a verbal altercation with Nepal captain Rohit Paudel during the third over of the team’s chase. Bangladesh won by 21 runs because to Tanzim’s outstanding bowling throughout the match, which included a match-winning 4/7 stint.
Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match),” was found to have been broken by the 21-year-old.
Ahsan Raza, Sam Nogajski, Jayaraman Madanagopal, the third umpire, and Kumar Dharmasena, the fourth umpire, all made the accusations.
No formal hearing was required as Tanzim acknowledged the offense and accepted the punishment suggested by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.Bangladesh’s victory over Nepal guaranteed them a spot in the Super Eight of the main event; they will play Australia in Antigua on Thursday.
