Konstantin Koltsov played for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Belarusian hockey federation said on Tuesday that Konstantin Koltsov, a former ice hockey player and partner of two-time tennis Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka, has passed away at the age of 42. The federation issued a brief statement claiming that Koltsov “died suddenly,” although it did not specify how or where he passed away. On its website, the federation stated, “We are in mourning.”
“The Belarusian Hockey Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and everyone who knew and worked with Konstantin.”
During his playing career, Koltsov spent time in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
There was no immediate reaction from the 25-year-old Sabalenka, the world number two, who is scheduled to play at the Miami Open this week.In addition to winning the Melbourne title earlier this year, the Belarusian also won the Australian Open in 2023.
