On Wednesday night, the Brisbane Heat defeated the Sydney Sixers by 54 runs at the SCG to win the BBL13 Championship.

The Brisbane Heat were out for retribution after falling to the Sixers just a few days prior, but they got off to a rough start with the bat. Losing a wicket in the opening over caused concern in the Heat sheds, but a good partnership between Nathan McSweeney and Josh Brown stabilized the ship.

Although the Heat’s innings was not particularly flashy, a late burst helped the visitors score 166 runs. The Sixers got off to a sluggish start, losing a critical wicket in the opening over when Daniel Hughes was caught in the slips with only his second ball

Despite indications of life in the top order, a series of routine catches by the excellent Heat fielder hampered the Sixers’ hopes.
The wickets started to fall in the middle of the Sixers’ innings, and it wasn’t long before the Heat had a comfortable lead. Brisbane won with three overs to spare, earning the franchise’s second BBL championship.
