In advance of the 2023 men’s hockey World Cup, which will be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, India’s captain Manpreet Singh wants to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about their adversaries. India will host Spain in the new season of the FIH Pro League next month.
At the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India will play New Zealand in the Pro League’s opening game on October 28 before facing Spain in the second match on October 30.
India and Spain will play each other in their World Cup debut on January 13 at Rourkela’s brand-new Birsa Munda International Stadium after being placed in the same pool.
“It’s fantastic that we will have the opportunity to play Spain in Pro League games going forward. Before we play them again in the opening game of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar-Rourkela 2023, it will help us better understand their style of play and what we can do to improve “said Manpreet.
