The England batsman dominated, scoring 20 fours and two sixes in her 61 balls despite being dropped on 32 and having an LBW decision reversed on 75.

She achieved the highest score in either the men’s or women’s Hundred, and the Fire’s 181-3 score also set a record for women.Although they did a good job of chasing down the ball, the Rockets wound up on 140-5 and lost by 41 runs.

Fire captain Beaumont told Sky Sports, “I don’t know what occurred to be honest.

“I’ve had a fantastic day out. Performing for the audience was fantastic.

Welsh Fire’s victory over Trent Rockets, Tammy Beaumont broke the first century in the women’s version of The Hundred.

The best score in The Hundred prior to Birmingham Phoenix’s Will Smeed becoming the first batter to hit a century in the game was Will Jacks’ 108 not out for Oval Invincibles last year.

The previous record for the women’s competition belonged to Australian Beth Mooney, who scored 97 runs against Southern Brave for London Spirit last year.Beaumont, who in June scored the first double century by an England women’s player in an Ashes Test, has had a remarkable summer of performance.

She hasn’t participated in a T20 match for England since January 2022 since she was benched in favour of more aggressive batters, yet she reached 50 from 25 balls and three figures from 52.

The 32-year-old right-hander played superbly through the off side, notably smashing off-spinner Bryony Smith over long-on for her two sixes and four consecutive fours against rookie seamer Cassidy McCarthy.

Beaumont finally got caught off the penultimate ball at deep square leg by Joanne Gardner after putting down a clear chance to get rid of Beaumont in the same position earlier. They had put on exactly 100 runs with Sarah Bryce, who struck 31 not out, and 81 with Sophia Dunkley.

Every Rockets player thanked Beaumont and the Cardiff audience gave him a standing ovation after he declared, “It is amazing.”
